Have you checked your fuel pressure? You can check it one way from the out let end of the fuel filter. Have you tried fuel injector cleaner through the system? There are a couple of brands I have used, one is BG44K and Seafoam. The BG is better used when you only have a half tank of gas. Start the vehicle and get it good and warm, turn on the AC so as to get the motor working. Then head for the Freeway and as you get to the on ramp, Nail the throttle open. Do this a couple of times to get the injectors to open up. Seafoam just read the directions on the can, don't be alarmed by the smoke coming out of the pipe. I hope this will help you out, Good luck.
If you're getting a "Lean Condition" error, that can certainly be caused by low fuel pressure or a partially clogged injector.
However... It can also be caused by a vacuum leak. Thank you for your answer. Yes on that, I totally forgot about checking on vacuum leaks. I just naturally look and didn't think about mentioning it.
You can't, but it is easily replaced by a muffler shop just like a muffler. But it's not real pricey. They do it every day, so don't go anywhere else or they'll gouge you on the price.
i just replaced the catalytic converter in my 98 cl. I bought a brand new universal converter for $200 and about $50 on a couple sensors that got messed up, you can buy converters at junk yards for cheaper but i couldn't find any. if you need labour done as well your looking at about 350-400 bucks, i installed myself though
Legally a defective catalytic converter must be replaced.
No, have the converter replaced.
Check your catalitic converter and see if its plugged up and needs replaced. This just happened to my 1994 Chevy diesel P truck and I thought the turbo was out.
No, it is illegal to remove a converter and not replace it.
No, it must be replaced.
There are a number of reazons why this light comes on: 1.- One of the most common reazons is incomplete combustion which can be caused by faulty spark plugs, they can be wore out or have ash or carbon deposits etc, etc, all these combined with a faulty catalitic converter will make the check engine light to come on, I had the same problem once and upon an engine diaqnostic it was found that my catalitic converter was not doing it's job any more so before I went and spend a lot of money replacing the catalitic converter I went and inspected the spark plugs and sure enough they needed replacement badly, replaced them and took my car to my local Autozone store and they reset or clear the eng light for free and it never came on again, so the moral of the story is: Check your spark plugs before you go and spend a lot of mony. God bless. Spark plugs are cheap
No, if it is clogged it must be replaced.
No, that will not work. A restricted catalytic converter will need replaced.
You cannot unclog a converter. If it is clogged it much be replaced.
A catalytic converter can be ruined by a engine that is missing and dumping raw fuel into the converter.
