Follow these few basic steps and enjoy spending time with your child while making a unique and fun clock.
Step 1: Gather the materials that you will need, which are:
• A 9 “ paper plate white, colored or decorative
• Number stickers in a color that will show up on the paper plate well • Decorative paper such as construction paper or poster board
• A sharpened pencil or nail, something sharp enough to punch a hole into the center of the clock
• Scissors – safety scissors would be good if your child is not used to cutting.
• Paper hole punch
• A brad
Step 2: Sit at a table with your child.
Step 3: On the back of the paper plate, write your child's name. If he or she is old enough, have them write their own name on the back of the plate.
Step 4: On the front of the paper plate (it does not have to be a plain, white one) place the numbered stickers around the plate in the proper working order of a regular clock.
Step 5: Make clock hands out of the decorative paper. Remember to make a long hand and a short hand.
Step 6: Use the paper hole punch to punch a hole near the bottom of each of the clock hands.
Step 7: Use the sharpened pencil or nail to puncture a hole into the center of the paper plate.
Step 8: Take the brad and put it through the holes in each of the clock hands and then through the hole in the paper plate and close it.
You and your child have now successfully completed your clock. Take a few moments and practice setting different times on the clock. In no time at all, your child will be able to read a standard clock, and you and your child can take pride in this accomplishment.
