300
more than has ever been built.
There hasn't been a test on that yet, it would also depend on how big the warheads carried were.
Hard to say. Many countries make nuclear weapons behind other countries backs. Some countries are not announcing when they complete testing or development for nuclear warheads, so the world may never know.
Two were used to end WW2. Since then thousands have been exploded in tests, but none in war.
Missiles with nuclear warheads have never been used in war. The only nuclear weapons ever used in war were the 2 used to end WW2 in Japan. These were gravity bombs.
At no time have nuclear weapons been in Cuba. In the 1963 Cuban missile crisis the USSR and Cuba had built IRBM launch facilities, IRBM storage facilities, and warhead storage facilities. Some IRBM's had been shipped to Cuba, but no warheads. The Soviet ships carrying warheads were stopped by the US Naval quarantine, then turned around.
== Israel has over 1000 nukes == Israel has not been confirmed to have any nuclear weapons at all. However, defense experts postulate Israel has 50-60 tactical warheads and bombs. Most of these were "home-grown" although there are rumors Israel has acquired some from external sources.
Not anymore. The breakup of the Soviet Union left Kazakhstan with over a thousand Soviet warheads. However, all the nukes have since been shipped to Russia.
Actually no nuclear weapons were discovered in Cuba by the US in 1962, only ongoing construction work on missile launch facilities and some strategic missiles (without warheads). The concern was to prevent the USSR from transporting the warheads and the rest of the missiles. The thing that was not discovered was that there were low yield tactical nuclear weapons already on Cuba that would have been used to repel any invasion. When the USSR agreed to remove the strategic missiles they also secretly removed these tactical nuclear weapons that the US had never been aware of.
The keys an been misplaced. The misplaced word cause a great deal of confusion.
The precise number is classified, & not publicly available... Probably there are 150-200 British built nuclear warheads for the American supplied Trident SLB Missile system. It's also possible that some smaller nuclear warheads have been developed for the Tomahawk cruise missiles also carried by Royal Navy nuclear submarines, but this is speculative! Officially, all the "free-fall" nuclear bombs once carried by the RAF's "Strike Command"/ "V Force" aircraft have been decommissioned, but many suspect that some (maybe a hundred or so) have been upgraded & retained for "contingencies". There are no longer any US controlled nuclear warheads based permanently in Britain, although nuclear armed American submarines operate routinely from UK naval bases under joint facility agreements between UK & US Governments. The British Army (as per current NATO doctrine/ international arms control agreements/ treaties) no longer maintains/ controls any tactical nuclear weapons systems. Bottom line, however, is that no-one apart from the Prime Minister, Intelligence & Defence Chiefs, & probably some very senior Civil Servants, knows the exact number of nuclear weapons currently retained by the UK: in order effectively to deter, it's best to keep potential enemies guessing...
At the peak the US had 1052 ICBMs (1000 Minuteman & 52 Titan) plus SLBMs, IRBMs, SRBMs, and Cruise Missiles in various lesser quantities. The Minutemans have always been the largest quantity of one type and now even some of them have been retired to meet START limits. Counting all types of missiles capable of carrying a nuclear warhead the US might still have somewhere under 2500, but the exact number is probably classified and most nuclear capable Cruise Missiles and SRBMs are normally armed with just conventional warheads (so they wouldn't count).
