I suggest getting Sims 3 because they are still making all the games for it.

well there's three main games (the sims/ the sims 2 and finally the latest realease-sims 3)
Then there's expansion packs for each.

( there is more but that's just the ones i can remember off the top of my head)

as far as im aware there is just the main game out at the moment but watch this space

To help you out with Sims 1 freya there is The Sims of course, then there was Deluxe, Double Deluxe and Mega Deluxe (not sure if all countries had that one) then the expansion packs - House Party, Living Large, Hot Date, Unleashed, Superstar, Vacation and Makin Magic.
