Singapore was found by Sang Nila Utama in 1819.He was a prince of Sumatra wanting to find a suitable place to stay.He decided to go to Riau Island and reached safely.Then, he saw a deer and started chasing it and came to a big rock.He climbed it and saw another another island.He asked his men men what island was it and he say i was the island of Temasek.He decided to go there and a great storm blew up.He threw all the tings off the ship to prevent it from sinking,Sang Nila Utama knew that his crown was heavy and throw it aboard.Then they safely reached the island of Temasek.They saw and animal and asked his men what animal it was and they replied it was a lion.He named this city Singapura,"Singa" means lion and "Pura" means city.Singapura means lion city,San Nila Utama was buried Bukit Larangan.
