Some cosmological theories suggest the universe may be either 10 or 11 dimensional. As far as Stephen Hawking goes ... there is no limit to the number of dimensions that can be considered on a theoretical basis, and in fact certain problems in physics are best treated in "Hilbert space", which is an abstract vector space with an infinite number of dimensions. How many dimensions Dr. Hawking uses for any given calculation would therefore depend on exactly what it is that he's calculating.
Stephen Hawking's political views were generally aligned with progressive and left-leaning ideas. He advocated for universal healthcare, income equality, and action on climate change. He was critical of the Trump administration and Brexit, and was a vocal supporter of the Labour Party in the UK.
Stephen Hawking is one of the most famous cosmologists and theoretical physicists alive. He is famous, among other things, for the description of radiation that escapes fromthe region near a black hole (Hawking radiation) and the theory for the evaporation of black holes. Hawkings scientific works (together with others) include providing theorems regarding singularities, the frameworl of general relativity. Stephen Hawking is also famous because he has accomplished so much despite debilitating muscular atrophy due to ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
Steven Hawking is probably the greatest theoretical physicists alive today. Especially when he has had to overcome enormous personal difficulties. See link below fora fuller description of his life and works

Stephen William Hawking, (born 8 January 1942) is a British theoretical physicist specializing in cosmology. He has published both scientific and popular works. He is noted for his scientific achievements which have conferred great professional honors but not great personal wealth.

Stephen Hawking became paralyzed because he was born without an ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). With means he could not stand. Usually you would be able to walk until your around 50 then you will develop and you will become paralyzed. Stephen Hawking developed it at the age of 21. 1-10 people are born without an ALS Stephen Hawking uncertainly was one of them.Hawking was the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at the University of Cambridge for 30 years, taking up the post in 1979 and retiring on 1 October 2009.[5][6] He is now Director of Research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge. He is also a Fellow of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge and a Distinguished Research Chair at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Ontario.[7] He is known for his contributions to the fields of cosmology and quantum gravity, especially in the context of black holes. He has also achieved success with works of popular science in which he discusses his own theories and cosmology in general; these include the runaway best seller A Brief History of Time, which stayed on the British Sunday Times best-sellers list for a record-breaking 237 weeks.[8][9]Hawking's key scientific works to date have included providing, with Roger Penrose, theorems regarding gravitational singularities in the framework of general relativity, and the theoretical prediction that black holes should emit radiation, which is today known as Hawking radiation (or sometimes as Bekenstein-Hawking radiation).[10]Hawking has a motor neurone disease that is related to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a condition that has progressed over the years and has left him almost completely paralysed.
