This device will sample,(take a snapshot), of the analogue signal and convert the voltage to a string of digital binary bits. Internal circuit description The converter generates a linear voltage ramp derived from an internal voltage reference starting from zero volts. A binary digital counter is activated and incremented by an internal oscillator. When an analogue comparator senses that the internal ramp has reached the same value as the applied voltage the comparator flips and the counter is frozen. The counter value appears at the output as a digital number equivalent to the applied analogue voltage. This is called slope integration.
