Normally cans(soup cans, soda cans, etc.) are made of aluminum.
On older cans, they were made of an aluminum pull ring attached to a steel teardrop shaped metal piece. On newer cans, both segments are made of aluminum. The newer versions are made to allow the pull tab (or lever) to remain attached to the can and the pull tab portion to sink into the opening of the can but not separate from the can.

tuna cans, like any food cans, are made from steel and tin
In the 1800's cans were made by melting bronze plates into the shape of a can.
No, food cans are made of steel, cans for nonacidic beverages are usually made of aluminum, cans for acidic beverages are made of steel. Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon, sometimes with other elements (some steel alloys include some nickel, but these are usually specialty steels and should not be needed in cans).
The cans are made from aluminium.
Tin cans are typically made of steel or aluminum, not plastic. The term "tin" is a misnomer as cans are generally made of other materials instead of tin.
I believe you are talking about the side seam or seal. Typical tin cans are made from 3 parts - the cylinder and two ends. The cylinder is formed from a rectangular piece of sheet metal. The edges that meet to make the cylinder are welded together making the side seam. Malformed seals are where most can leaks occur. The Related Link is a 12 minute video showing how 3-piece aluminum cans are made. It mentions welding the side seam about 4 minutes into it.
Mostly now, aluminum is used to make cans.
