If your electric box has four wires in it, then it is a three phase four wire system. You should not be doing anything in this panel. It should be left to a qualified tradesman to do any work on three phase equipment.

Sounds like 220 V service. You need to connect the white one to the neutral bar (look for white wire from power source, black to one power on one side of breaker, red to other side of breaker, and the ground wire (can be green, usually bare) to the ground bar. Look for other bare wires. This assumes you have a 220V breaker.

If you don't have a 220 V breaker, then you are hooking up 120V with a 220V capable wire. I would suggest just ignore the red (clip it off), unless you have another breaker you want to use. In this case, you could hook the red to a separate breaker instead of clipping - just make sure the wire is properly rated. The wire is then carrying two circuits.

How do you wire a 220 VAC 4 wire cable into your breaker box?

If you are talking about a 4-wire branch circuit you'll need to start with a 220 VAC breaker. It will have two terminals. Connect black and red wires to the two terminals. Doesn't matter in which order you make this connection. The white wire goes to the neutral bus bar where all other white wires are connected. The green or bare wire goes to ground bus where other bare wires are connected.

How many wires meter to breaker panel?

4 wires. 2 hot legs, 1 neutral leg, and 1 ground wire.

Can you put a switch and receptacle in same box?

InstructionsInstalling a Switch and Receptacle in a Single-Gang Box1 Turn off the branch-circuit circuit breaker on the service panel. Remove the switch cover plate. Check to make sure that the power is off by turning on the non-contact voltage tester and bringing it near the wires in the box. If there is voltage still present on the wires, the tester will beep loudly. Some boxes have more than one circuit running through them. You may have to turn off more than one circuit breaker before you can work on the circuit safely.2 Remove the two #6-32 screws holding the switch in the box. Pull the switch out of the box and disconnect the wires from the switch. Remove the wire nut holding the two white wires together. You may have to use the Lineman's pliers to untwist the white wires once you remove the wire nut to separate them.Sponsored LinksSplice /Junction Boxes Full line- all polymer enclosures + Fiberglass base+ polymer rings boxwww.HighlineProducts.com3 Separate all the wires so that they do not touch one another or the box. Turn the branch-circuit circuit breaker on temporarily. Use the non-contact tester to ascertain which black wire is bringing power to the box. Fix the position of that wire firmly in your mind and turn the circuit breaker off again.4 Cut the white wire flush with its insulation and remove 3/4 of an inch of insulation from the cut ends with the wire strippers. Cut a 6 to 8 inch length of white wire, removing 3/4 inch of insulation from both ends. Make a 3-way splice with the two white wires in the box. Hold the stripped ends of the wires side by side and twist them tightly together in a clockwise twist with the Lineman's pliers. Complete the splice by screwing on a wire nut. Form a loop, in the free end of the white, pigtail wire.5 Connect the black wire bringing power to the box to the side of the switch receptacle with the double brass screws joined together. Connect the black wire going to the light to the single brass screw on the opposite side of the switch. Connect the white wire to the silver screw and the bare copper wire to the green, octagon-shaped screw. Place the loops around the screws in a clockwise direction and tighten the screws.6 Install the switch/receptacle in the box, install the cover plate and turn on the circuit breaker.

How do you connect a 240 v cooktop with 4 wires to a service panel with 3 wires?

The new cooktop has a 4 wire connection. Red & Black are hot. White is neutral, and green is ground. You existing panel is wired with 3 wires. Black & Red are hot and green is ground. There is no neutral wire. Connect the black to black, red to red, and then connect the white and ground together at the plug.

How do I convert existing 3 wire 220 volt 20 amp breaker wire system to 110 volt from the box to the recepticle?

Assuming there is no neutral: 1) Turn off the breaker. 2) Disconnect 1 of the 2 hot wires from the breaker and connect it to the neutral bar (Recommend phase taping the wire white :) ) Remember which wire you used as the neutral, in a home you will most likely have a black and a red. I would keep the black hot, and phase tape the red wire white. If it's not long enough you can wire nut another white wire onto it to make it reach the neutral bar. 3) Leave the breaker OFF, at the receptacle, change it to a 120 volt receptacle. Take the wire you made the neutral, and connect it to the white screw on the 120 v receptacle, and take the black to the hot. Ground to the ground screw. Make sure you phase tape the red wire at the receptacle white as well. 4) turn the breaker on 5) test the receptacle with a meter or receptacle testing device for correct wiring.

How do you wire a light to a switch at the end of a run and which controls an outlet?

Bring power into the light switch box 12/2 or 14/2 wire depending on the existing wire. Make sure you use the exactly same size wire that is used on that circuit. If you do not know look at the breaker in the main panel that controls power to that circuit. 20 amp will be 12/2 wire and 15 amp will be 14/2 wire. Now run another wire from the switch box out to the outlet. Inside the switch box, strip both white wires back 3/4" and connect them together under a wire nut and push this back into the box. Connect the 2 ground wires together and then connect that to the ground screw on the switch. You now have 2 black wires left. Connect them to the 2 screws on the light switch. Does not matter which black wire you connect to which screw. At the outlet connect the ground wire to the green ground screw, black wire to copper screw, and white wire to silver screw. That outlet will now be controlled by the light switch.

Where do connect trailer wiring on 1990 Toyota 4Runner?

i dont know if your model of 4runner has this or not, but on my 1990 4runner 4DR 4WD 3.0L V6, there are 4 wires coming from a white box under the rear bumper on the drivers side. coming from the box is also a few wires that go to the right side brake light asembly. the set of 4 wires that do not connect to the brake lights, is your trailer brake wires that conect to a simple 4 way triler harnes, and you can even plug it into a 6 or 7 way harnes if you want to go overboard. The little white box that is on my truck could very well be an aftermarket part, so i would suggest going to your local Truck shop and have them take a look if you cant figure it out.

There are 8 wires in my broadband UTP connection. But my network operator connect only 4 wires.4 wires didn't connect.is it the only reason of my slow internet speed?

That is normal. Only 2 pairs of wires are used in LAN connections at 10Mbps or 100Mbps.

How do you connect 4 stranded copper wires together?

With a properly sized wire nut. IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY SURE YOU CAN DO THIS JOBSAFELY AND COMPETENTLYREFER THIS WORK TO QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS. If you do this work yourself, always turn off the power at the breaker box/fuse panel BEFORE you attempt to do any work AND always use an electrician's test meter having metal-tipped probes (not a simple proximity voltage indicator) to insure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.

Where do the two wires that plug directly into the fuse box on a 1989 Acura Legend 4 door go?

I have the exact same car and there are a lot more than just two wires going into the fuse box. But if you are talking about the two cables that have a series of wires in them they bring power into the fuse box and take power out of the fuse box and to everything else in the car.
