He is his uncle :)
Queen Gertrude is Prince Hamlet's mother and the new bride of King Claudius, Hamlet's uncle.
Claudius is Hamlet's uncle (his father's brother)
I think Claudius was a bad character because he killed King Hamlet, Prince Hamlet's father.
In Shakespeare's play Hamlet, Claudius is Hamlet's uncle and also his stepfather. There isn't a Claudia.
The public story was that an adder (snake) stung (bit) King Hamlet while he was sleeping, but when Hamlet's Ghost tells Prince Hamlet it was Claudius, the Prince responds, "Oh, my prophetic soul," meaning he really thought so all the time.
Gertrude's first husband was King Hamlet. King Hamlet was the brother of Claudius. This makes Claudius and Gertrude in-laws. After Claudius murders King Hamlet, he marries Gertrude, so they are then husband and wife.
The only characters in the play Hamlet who are related to Hamlet are the ghost of his father King Hamlet, his mother Gertrude and his uncle Claudius. None of the rest are related to him.
Hamlet's father is also named Hamlet. He was King Hamlet of Denmark until he died, allegedly because of his brother Claudius, who took his kingdom and his wife.
Claudius hopes that Hamlet will be killed in England. Claudius is the King and is also the brother of Hamlet.
They planned to kill prince hamlet with a posioned foil
Claudius is Hamlet's uncle (father's brother), step-father (married his mom), king, and his father's killer. That would make for some awkward family dinners.
Claudius and King Hamlet were brothers. Gertrude was married to King Hamlet first, and then she married Claudius.
