That's a long an complicated question. The short answer is the Roman Catholic Church celebrates most holidays on the Western Calendar while the Eastern Orthodox use a slightly different calendar known as the Eastern Calendar. Some years the dates are the same and others they are different. The Roman Catholic Church structure is similar to the Eastern Orthodox. However, the Eastern Orthodox setup a church in each country (generally, America being one notable exception) whereas the Roman Catholics have a world wide structure.
same religious holidays for Orthodox Christians.
Check the Orthodox Church calendar.
The Russian Orthodox Church is in communion with other Eastern Orthodox Churches, and with the Patriarch of Constantinople (the city whose name was changed to Istanbul inthe 1920s). The Greek Catholic Church (which is maybe what you mean by 'Catholic Orthodox') have the same liturgy as the Russian and other Eastern Orthodox Churches. But they are in communion with the Pope of Rome and thus part of the Roman Catholic Church. There are, for instance, quite a lot of Greek Catholics in the Ukraine. The Orthodox cross is different than the Christian cross. The reason being is that the Orthodox cross has another strike. Also their main holidays are also different. First of all, there is no such thing as Greek Catholic to my knowledge. There are Greek Orthodox and other Eastern ORthodox as you mentioned including the Russian ORthodox but they are no way ion communion for the Pope of Rome. The Pope means nothing to the Orthodox and are strictly in communion with the Roman Catholics ONLY. You may be thinking of the Byzantine Catholics and the only relationship they to the Orthodox is the Byzantine Cross. And the Byzantine cross is not different from the Christian cross - It is a Christian cross. However, you are right that the cross looks different. It is a typical cross, but with 2 extra crosses, one on top for the sign, and one the bottom which is tilted so that it one end is up towards the right and the other end tilting to the ground. There are alot of Ukrainian Catholics yes. Main holidays are only different by date. Jan. 7 is Xmas and Easter is generally around Passover, only due to the fact that they follow the Julian calendar (from ancient apostolic times) as opposed to following the Roman calendar. All Liturgy's are basically the same in practice, but they do differ s lightly.
Generally speaking, Pentecostal Christians trace their roots to the Azusa Street revival that occured in the early 1900's. Most belong to such denominations as the Assemblies of God, the Church of God in Christ and the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) or to nondenominational churches. These groups are nonliturgical, so they do not follow traditional church calendars. However, most would celebrate Christmas Eve, Christmas day, Good Friday and Easter. However, some Pentecostals are found in liturgical churches, such as the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, and Lutheran churches which celebrate many other Christian holidays.
diffferent holidays orginate from different countries
The complicated dating for Easter was set in 325 at the Council of Nicaea, which scheduled the festival to be celebrated on the first Sunday following the full moon occurring next after the vernal equinox (about March 21); however, if the full moon occurs on a Sunday, Easter will be celebrated the following Sunday. Hence, the date of Easter can fluctuate between March 22 and April 25. Because the Western churches (Catholic and Protestant) now follow the Gregorian calendar, the Eastern churches, which follow the unrevised Julian calendar, celebrate Easter (and other Church holidays) on different dates. In the Orthodox Churches, Easter marks the beginning of the ecclesiastical year. As related above, Australian Protestants and Roman Catholics clebrate Easter on the same date as their European and American counterparts, while the many Orthodox Christians celebrate with their European counterparts.
