is that sti is a contacted disease and std is not the contacted one
STI stands for sexually transmitted infection, and STD stands for sexually transmitted disease. When a virus, bacteria, or protozan (which are the agents that cause chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, HPV, HIV, Trich, and others) enters the body, it "infects" the body and is called an infection. If the infection results in altering the normal function of the body, it is then called a disease. For example, if a woman is infected with the bacteria chlamydia trachomatis (called chlamydia), and it infects the pelvis area and reproductive organs, which damages the organs, it is called pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). The bacterial infection caused the disease. The act of infection is not the disease.
The correct terminology then of all "bad infections" from sex (chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, HPV, HIV, Trich, and others) should be called infections or STI. If a disease results, it usually has a specific term for the disease (such as PID or AIDS). Not all people that are infected by a STI will have a resulting disease. Some do. Why? It depends on the person, amount of stress, general health, and other factors.
When I was young, in the 1960's, we called the STIs "venereal diseases" or VD. Later, they were termed STDs. Now, they are called STIs, which is a correct term. As time goes on, you will see the STD terminology change to STI.
it's a sexually transmitted dieseaseee
They are essentially the same. A disease encompasses all the characteristics of a pathological condition; its definition, cause, signs, symptoms, and treatment. An infection is an individual case of that disease. So all sexually transmitted diseases will have an event when the infection occurred. After the infection, the person will have the disease.
Though all sexually transmitted diseases are infectious. There is one that deserves special consideration. The main difference that sets this one apart from the rest is chlamydiae. It is apart from the rest because is 50% of all women and 75% of all men experience such mild symptoms that they do not even realize that they have it. This is what accounts for chlamydiae as being the number one cause of both female and male infertility in the world. Though other STD's cause death of living adults, there is only one, chlamydiae, that is responsible for for the deaths of the yet, unborn. That is a big difference. So it is a good idea for all young people to be checked at a doctor office or clinic. It is a cheap, quick, and painless urine sample test.
