each is often expressed as a percentage
I think the discount comes first and then the sales tax.
Yes, a discount is permitted when the tax is compensated through the 20th day of the month where the tax arrives. The sales tax discount is 2% of tax due, to not exceed $50.
They both help to lessen the amount of tax owed
Tax
Discount tax software is simply tax software sold at a lower price. There are also tax preparers such as H&R Block that offer free simple filing and other great discounts for a limited time.
Tax
I think it's sales tax
The discount must be calculated first to get the base price of the item, then the tax percentage would be taken into consideration, otherwise you would be charging additional tax on an item which should be discounted in the first place. If you were to calculate tax first then the discount price, your total would be incorrect.
$ 103.54
This is a way they were alike they were both nice because one was nice in the begining and the other was nice in the end.
The tax avoidance is not against the law, but the tax evasion is illegal and against the law. Most of the people know they are mostly alike.
It will depend on the amount of sales tax in their jurisdiction and the amount of the discount. If the tax and the discount are the same, it is more beneficial to the purchaser to get the discount. To the Seller, it makes almost no difference! At 6% tax rate: On a $100 item -> You pay $100 and store pays $6 tax. Store gets to keep $94. On a $94 item ($100 with 6% discount)-> You pay $94 and you pay $5.64 tax (total $99.64). Store still gets to keep $94. There is a slight advantage to the store in that in most jurisdiction there is a tax free amount each month, to cover the cost of the bookkeeping and reporting of taxes, but in a big volume store, that will be a very small percentage of the total amount.
