Usually what plants and animals ,as a living creature, need food and oxygen to survive. Plants and animaIs which live in water get oxygen and water by working together.Plants give O2(Oxygen) to animals and in turn,the animals help plants in reproduction. So, this is how they work together.

water has 0.7% dissolved oxygen that animals take in through their specially adopted respiratoy organs (gills etc. ) and plants through body surface but basic mode of transfusion remains duffusion.
