It depends on the farm.

Some farms keep the animals in very small cages and feed them tonnes of food every day. This makes them big and fat so that they fetch a better price in the supermarkets.


Other, free range farms let the chickens have loads of space outside in fields, but these chickens tend to be a lot smaller.
