You can go to the doctor and try out different medications. My parents just use rel-pax and it gets their headaches away really fast. But its different for a lot of people.
Chronic daily migraine headache

No. It is not normal to have a migraine every day. It is important, however, to be sure that you are correct in your self-diagnosis. Migraine is a very specific type of headache. It is possible to have daily migraines. Your doctor can help you determine if you do, indeed, have chronic daily migraine headaches. If you do, there are medications that can decrease the number of attacks you have, and other medications that can be fairly effective at stopping the migraines you continue to have with treatment. Two more common cause of daily headaches are (1) withdrawal and (2) rebound headaches. Withdrawal headaches can occur whenever your body is hungering for any number of drugs or substances. Going too long without your daily dose of caffeine or nicotine can trigger a headache as your body tries to tell you that it is time to dose up. These must be addressed by slowly decreasing your intake of that substance, a process sometimes known as "detoxification" or "detox". Rebound headaches are similar, but happen in response to withdrawal from an anti-headache medicine. These classically occur during withdrawal from narcotics, but are actually more common as a result of withdrawal from ibuprofen, acetaminophen (Tylenol), and other over-the-counter headache medications.
I too am wondering this. I had meningitis at 3 years old and have suffered a lifetime of terrible migraines. I am now 27 and on daily medication to prevent migraines and moving up to more serious medications each year.
I believe you are referring to "Aventil" which is one of the brand names for Nortriptyline, a tricyclic anti-depressant. Tricyclic anti-depressants have been used for decades as a preventative medication for migraines. It is also used for chronic daily headache, as well as other types of chronic pain. Amitriptyline (brand name: Elavil) is more often used to treat trigeminal and occipital neuralgia than Nortriptyline. Recent studies have shown tricyclic anti-depressants to provide at least as much benefit as the more recent preventative medications used to treat migraines and other chronic headaches, even against medications which have become very popular to prescribe, such as Topamax. Tricyclic anti-depressants work for chronic daily headaches the same way other types of anti-depressants do - by working with serotonin levels. Normally taken before bedtime, it has also been shown to promote sleep, which is something lacking when people are in chronic pain. Improved amounts of healthy sleep can improve a person's ability to cope with pain.

It is possible that you have a chemical imbalance in part of your brain which is the source of most migraines. Most imbalances can be fixed with low daily doses as prescribed by a neurologist.

Also how much does the child weigh? Dosages vary depending upon the condition being treated and by taking into consideration the weight of the patient. Kim
