In an Oxygen Atom there are two rings on which the Electrons orbit around the Nucleus, there is the inner ring and the outer ring. The inner ring closest to the Nucleus contains two Electrons and on the outer ring there are six Electrons making a total of eight Electrons, which is equal to the amount of Neutrons and Protons in the Nucleus (8 Neutrons, 8 Protons).
