How are food chains and food webs related?

They both say who eats what AND ALSO WHAT EATS WHO, the only difference is that a web shows many animals that eat certain other animals and a chain just says one animal that eats another that eats another, etc.

A food chain shows you what animals or plant eat like algae gets eatin be fish gets eatin by bigger fish. For a food wed im not really sure but i think its what an animal eats im not really sure but the subject can be anything not just animals. Hope that helps! :)

a food chain is a straight line from one animal to the next,

lettuce - rabbits - foxes

whereas a food chain does not just follow what eats the lettuce, then what eats whatever ate the lettuce. it shows all the different foods that an animal has in it's diet. i can't draw one, though ( :-) )

for example, ferrets and foxes both eat rabbits, which can be shown in a food web, but not in a food chain

A food web is a diagram made up of multiple food chains. A food web could not exist without food chains.
