Fungi is part of the Eukarya domain... Having more than one cell, and having cells with a nucleus. If their size doesn't tell you how much they differ, then consider the fact that Fungi are decomposers, feeding off plant and animal life, and bacteria have uncountable ways of feeding. As an added note, Fungi are stationary. Bacteria can move around.

Fungi differ from plants in that they do not have plastids or chlorophyll like plants. Thus, they do not undergo photosynthesis. (This does not, however, mean fungi do not require light to grow. Many fungal species require light to grow.) Another way they differ from plants is that they have a single, posterior, whiplash flagellum while plants have 2 or more anterior whiplash flagella.

Fungi differ from animals in the way they grow and get food. Many animals are able to move freely through the environment, engulf their food, and lack cell walls. Fungi, on the other hand, do not move freely through their environment. Instead, the grow into their environment, and they secrete enzymes into the environment to breakdown their food. As well, their cells have walls containing chitin.

Rather easy at the cellular level as fungi are eukaryote and bacteria are prokaryote.

I think its because fungi is a decomposer.
