Yes, bad trips on magic mushrooms are possible. The probability of having such an experience is greatly influenced by the setting and the mindset of the user (expectations, past experiences, etc.).
It depends what you mean by "bad". Many people consider mushrooms to be harmful, even though they are not a particularly dangerous drug.
ANSWER:
I agree with above poster in what you mean by "bad" shunned by society, yes, illegal, yes, harmful to health- if psilocybin, will not harm your body whether your mind may think so at times during the use, you are not causing any body or brain damage using psilocybin containing mushrooms. I have eaten various quantities of various varieties of psilocybin containing mushrooms with no ill effects whatsoever.
I would stay away from Amanita Muscarias, and 'panther' caps. These shrooms get their effects from other chemicals which are unpleasant and can be 'bad' for your health.

It depends. Psilocybin mushrooms contain only 1.5x the toxicity of caffeine. Fly amanita may contain poisonous substances, such as ibotenic acid, which has been known to kill.
Not really just have somebody sober when your high on them
In the U.S., yes they are illegal.. Dosent mean you cant use em
Magic mushrooms are not physiologically bad for you and will most likely not cause negative mental effects but that is almost entirely dependent on your set and setting.

Any mushrooms containing psilocybin or psylocin are hallucinogenic. P. Cubensis is one of the most popular.
Yes, it is illegal to possess and/or consume hallucinogenic mushrooms (those containing psilocybin and psilocin, at least) in the United States.
Only the Hallucinogenic ones.
Technically, yes, every and any drug is detectable, but the fact that hallucinogenic mushrooms have such a short period in your urine(3 days i believe) and very very few people use hallucinogenic mushrooms on a daily(or weekly) basis like other street drugs, it's not viable for drug testing labs to test for hallucinogenic mushrooms and I've never heard of anyone ever testing for them.
All types of cubensis are hallucinogenic does mean your going to see unicorns or elves its just mushrooms
The Hallucinogenic compound found in liberty cap mushrooms is psilocybin psilocybin.
They have a powerful hallucinogenic effect similar to LSD.
The active (hallucinogenic) ingredient in magic mushrooms is called psilocybin.
