When the alleles of an organism for a particular character are same then it is called homozygous.

Example:If the tall character of a pea plant is considered as 'T' and dwarf character as't' then the plants with TT and tt alleles are called homozygous tall and homozygous dwarf respectively.

Heterozygous pairs are represented by a capital letter and a lowercase letter. Heterozygous also mean hybrid, or a mix of two. For example a heterozygous pair could be Bb or bB; either can work.

Homozygous means the same. So a homozygous pair will be a pair of identicals.

For example, let's look at genes and characteristics. Say the allele B stands for eye color, brown is dominant and blue is recessive.

One can be homozygous dominant, meaning their genes read BB. (Brown)

One may also be homozygous recessive, meaning their genes read bb. (Blue)

This means if the person were to produce offspring, the homozygous dominant would 100% pass on the brown allele while the homozygous recessive would 100% pass on the blue allele.

A third pair may also be possible: heterozygous. Heterozygous means different so you can assume that the heterozygous pair will read Bb. But since brown is dominant over blue, this person will still have brown eyes. Even yet, the offspring of this person still may receive blue eyes. This is because the person has a 50/50 chance of passing on brown or blue.

homozygous means the same so it can be like NN or AA it can be both lower and/or upper case letters but it has to be the same

A pair of alleles that consists of one dominant allele and one recessive allele. ie: if A was dominant and if a was recessive, a heterozygous pair would be Aa.

What is it when you have a gene pair that consist of two dominate alleles and two recessive alleles?

The name of the gene pair that consists of a dominant and recessive allele, i.e. (Xx) will be a heterozygous allele. In this situation, the characteristics of the dominant characteristic will mask that of the recessive allele. People have have a heterozygous genotype may be carriers for diseases that reside on the recessive allele.
