A swarm of locusts can be devastating to plant life, as the locusts will strip plants of their leaves. Not only do locusts deprive humans of their food sources, they can also poison stored food.

Locust swarming is definitely not beneficial to humans and plants. Locusts devour fields of crops in minutes, which means that a country can be threatened with famine and a loss of jobs for farm workers. To add to that large pile of rather unpleasantness, a locusts craps death (Its poo is toxic to food) so that is pretty awful too :)
