From kpnutta: Very, many famines have occured due to locusts as they devastate crops.
A locust is an insect, not a plant (leaf). A swarm of locusts certainly eats a huge quantity of leaves.
A large group of locusts is called a "swarm".
A locust is a type of grasshopper in the family Acrididae.
The largest locust swarm in recent history occurred in East Africa, particularly affecting countries like Kenya, Ethiopia, and Somalia in early 2020. This swarm was part of a series of outbreaks that were exacerbated by favorable climate conditions, such as unusually heavy rains. The swarm was reported to cover vast areas, devastating crops and threatening food security in the region.

Not really. However a locust swarm can be so invasive that it disturbs all local wildlife and insect populations which may in turn cause dragonflies to be more active simply because they are being annoying by the locusts invasion. But than again, a locust swarm does that to many things. What locusts attract most are birds, cats and other small animals which eat the locusts.
Swarm of locust can be one that can destroy whole fields of crops.
The average adult locust will consume about 2 grams of food in a day or about as much as it weighs. A swarm of locust can eat the same amount of food in one day as 2,500 people.
