Hydrogen symbol : H , and atomic number : 1 is an element . Whereas H2 is the hydrogen compound . The element may not be stable but molecule are always stable . When we see the molecular structure of hydrogen element , the outer most valence shell has one electron , which means hydrogen needs one more electron to fulfill its duplet . When the octate and duplet are fulfilled they are stable . In compound various element and molecules , bond to complete each others octate or duplet . Compound have certain bond . Eg electrovalent bond and covalent bond .

A compound is made up of two or more elements.

Is plastic an element mixture or compound?

Plastic is a compound, not an element or a mixture. It is made up of long chains of molecules called polymers, which are formed by the combination of different elements such as carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and sometimes nitrogen or sulfur.

Is grass an element compound or mixture?

Grass is a mixture of different compounds, such as cellulose, water, proteins, and minerals. It is not an element because it is made up of multiple types of molecules.

Is a diatomic molecule of one element a compound?

No its not. there is Diatomic Molecule compounds which consisting of two different element like: CO, NO, MgO, HCl,and HF. however, diatomic molecules are elements that are found in pairs such as: O2,N2,F2,Cl2.

When can molecules form a compound?

One defining characteristic of a chemical compound is the inclusion of two or more chemical elements. When atoms of those different elements bond in a fixed ratio, the resulting molecules constitute a chemical compound. Molecules of a single chemical element (such as O2) are not considered compounds.

Are all molecules compound why or why not?

No, not all molecules are compounds. Molecules can be composed of either a single element (such as O2 or N2) or a combination of different elements (like H2O or CO2). Compounds are molecules that are composed of atoms of at least two different elements.

How atoms relate to molecules and compounds?

An atom is the smallest component of any element having all the chemical properties of that specific element. A molecule is the simplest complete structural unit of an element or compound that can exist in nature. A compound is a substance consisting of two or more different elements or molecules formed by the chemical union of two or more elements or molecules in definite proportion by weight.

Is br2 an element or compound?

Br2 is a compound. It is a molecule made up of two atoms of the element bromine bonded together. In its natural state, bromine exists as Br2 molecules, which means it is a compound and not an individual element.

Must the atoms in a molecule be different?

No, the atoms in a molecule do not need to be all different. Molecules can contain multiple atoms of the same element or different elements bonded together. The arrangement and types of atoms in a molecule determine its properties.
