Solar systems are formed by nebulae. The larger pieces of dust and other materials attract the smaller ones, get bigger, and attract even more pieces of random things, and so on, until a star and sometimes planets are eventually formed.

What is Cloud of dust and gas?

A cloud of dust and gas is a collection of tiny solid particles and various gases, often found in space. These clouds can be the birthplaces of stars and planetary systems as gravity causes the particles to clump together and form denser regions. They're commonly referred to as "nebulae," and they come in various types such as molecular clouds, reflection nebulae, and emission nebulae.

Are there other planetary systems around other stars?

Yes. Many stars have planetary systems.

What does gravity do in the milky way galaxy?

It holds all the material in the galaxy together. It also contains gas and dust clouds which collapse, under the influence of gravity, into stellar nebulae from which new stars, and possibly planetary systems are born.

Is it possible to theorize about the formation of the solar system because no other planetary systems can be observed?

There's a flaw in the premise here: hundreds of other systems have been detected. However, the information available about just one (our own) is sufficient to speculate on genesis.

What do you call the study of solar systems?

Who were the first planetary systems to form in the Milky Way Galaxy?

Scientists don't know. We have only discovered a few hundred of the probable billions of planetary systems in this galaxy.
