They have a thick and warm coat, that adapts them to cool temperatures. In fact, snow leopards like to live in higher altitudes because of the cold temperature.
Yes, they do camouflage. Usually in ice.
God Made them that way! Actually, "Their furry feet not only keep them warm and dry but also provide greater surface area (like snow shoes) to trek across the tundra." - I AM SOMEONE ELSE AND FYI (FOR YOUR INFORMATION) GOD IS REAL AND EXISTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoever last posted, that is one view, however i am an athiest, and it is agaist somebodys human right to take away their opinion, which is what you are attempting to do, however I'll let this one slide for a change, but i recommend you do not force you opinons upon each other in the future. :) I don't sit here and go GOD IS MADE UP!!!! Do i now? if someone wants to say there opinion they can -- How did you bunch of idiots turn a question about snow leopards into a totally unrelated religious argument? Keep your opinions to YOURSELF unless someone asks you DIRECTLY. (I agree with the Atheist girl/boy.) Anyway, here's the answer to the question: Snow leopards have fur on their feet, which keeps their paws warm when they walk on snow or any other cold surface.
Polar bears have thick layers of fur which keeps them warm amongst all the snow and ice that they have in the Arctic. They also have lots of blubber underneath this fur for warmth. On their feet, they have special pads which help them not to slip on the ice and to help them catch their fish. Their claws also help them grip on the snow and ice. These are all ways in which they have adapted to the environment that they are in.
Yes, I was out playing yesterday in 2 feet of snow. There were over 30 people at the field. All snow and ice means in boots instead of cleats, and a change in camo. :D
Coefficient of friction on dry pavement is around .7 to .75 On snow or ice, it would be around .25 to .3 So, for example at 30 mph, stopping distance on dry pavement would be 40-42 feet. On snow or ice, it would be 100-120 feet. As you can see, it increases quite a bit.
Ice because I know that snow melts ice.And why does snow melts ice???
For penguins to stand and also for them to keep their eggs off the ice/snow.
To keep it off the ice/snow and to keep it warmer.
The big feet act as 'snow shoes' that can allow an arctic fox to walk across deep snow without sinking in or thin ice without breaking.
No one really knows how much they actually like snow. What we do know is that they're adapted to temperatures that usually means that there is snow around, so it might just be that they're comfortable in snow.
