In all honesty the only similarity they have is that they play Video Games. Sometimes they even have the same games on each platform.
The Wii is played with a Wii Remote and a motion sensor and even has an adaptor for a classic controller or a GameCube controller whereas the PlayStation is played with a traditional controllor.
The Wii is backwards compatible to the Game Cube and you are able to download old Nintendo games to the Wii itself in order to play them (from consoles like the N64 and the NES and other old consoles) The PlayStation is only able to play games from old PlayStation consoles.
The Wii U and PlayStation Vita are two very different consoles. Its primary differences lie in the manufacturer of both devices (Wii U by Nintendo and the Vita by Sony) and their purpose. (Wii U is a home console, while the Vita is a handheld.)
No you can trade in a Nintendo Wii towards the purchase price at a Gamestop or similar store, but you may get less than half of there selling price for the Wii.

No you can't because the Wii console won't recognize the disc because it's a different game system. But you can use a PlayStation disc on a PlayStation 2 or PlayStation 3.

Simply becaus Sony made the PlayStation and Nintendo made the Wii. Because the platform of your games is Playstaion/Sony, they are not compatible with the Wii.
A wii is more popular because a wii is more new.
Nope wii is made by Nintendo and playstation is made by sony so they have absolutely no compatibility.
