The Appendicular Skeleton, contains the pelvic and pectoral girdles, as well as the upper and lower limbs. The limbs and girdles, of the Appendicular Skeleton, attach to the Axial Skeleton.

The scientific name for the shoulder girdle is "pectoral girdle." It is the set of bones that connect the upper limbs to the axial skeleton.
The pectoral girdle attach the upper limbs to the axial skeleton and also provides attachment points for several muscles that move the upper limbs. The girdles are very light, therefore, allows upper limbs a greater degree of movement, however, because only the clavicle attaches to the axial skeleton, the scapula move freely across the thorax, allowing the arm to move with it. The axial skeleton is made up of the skull/cranium, jaw (mandible), sternum, ribs, vertebrae (including sacrum and coccyx). The appendicular skeleton is made of the scapula, humerus, ulna, radius, carpals, metacarpals, phalanges (also known as finger bones), ilium, ischium, pubis, femur, patella, tibia, fibula, tarsals, metatarsals, and some more phalanges (also known as toe bones).
