What color should a H2 Conductor on 480 volt transformer should be marked?

The conductor for H2 connection on a 480 volt wire transformer should be marked:

How do you connect 480 volts to a 230 volt transformer?

First. You should not attempt this unless you are an electrician and KNOW what you are doing. Second: Ensure transformer is rated for 480 primary and 120/240 secondary. Third: See step One... But if you insist on doing it yourself, make sure your insurance is paid up.... On the Primary side of the transformer will be leads marked H1 H2 H3 etc. On the Secondary side the leads will be marked X1 X2 X3 etc. Look on the nameplate data on the transformer. It should tell you if it is rated for 480volts and should have a wiring diagram on it... If it does not, get one that does to ENSURE that you have the correct transformer.... How can you determine the polarity of the leads of a transformer rectifier so you can connect a suitable plug?

rectifiers have two terminals.it has a circular ring printed on its body.this terminal is negative or n type.but when you connect any terminal of a rectifier to any of the leads of transformer it works reverse.e.g if u connect -ve terminal to the transformer it will give +ve potential,so the other terminal of transformer without rectifier will give -ve potential.

A measurement of 200 ohms is obtained between the primary and secondary of a double wound transformer is it safe to use?

When a resistance measurement is taken from both primary leads tied together to both secondary leads also tied together in a transformer, and the resistance obtained is 200 Ohms -- not safe in my book.

What is the line side of the 3 phase transformer?

The primary line side of a 3 phase transformer should be marked H1, H2, H3. The line side is the incoming voltage that you want to step up or step down or isolate.

Is transformation a change?

A: It is a transformer that has one or more leads wire output so switch can be used to change the output voltage from a reference wire.

If one transformer of a delta transformer bank fails the bank can be reconnected open delta and operate at reduced efficiency?

yes open all fuses close the primary neutral tap, remove secondary leads off of bad traansformer, tell customer to reduce his load until bad transformer can be replced.

Can you tell what grade of silicon steel is in a transformer core Is it stamped somewhere?

No, the grade or alloy is not usually marked. The manufacturer's data may indicate it though.

Why the arrow direction marked on top of the bucholz relay on power transformer?

The indicates the direction for correct installation. Bucholz relay operates when gas bubbles in the transformer oil pass through the relay in its pathway. The relay has to be installed arrow indicating upwards.

What instrument would you use to determine the phase of a transformer?

I'm not sure I understand the question. If you are asking if it's single or 3 phase, this will be marked on the name plate.

Does a basic transfomer in its normal operation use step up voltage step down voltage step up current or all?

A transformer has a primary and a secondary side. There is a ratio of windings from one side to the other that dictates whether it is a step up or step down transformer. The transformer is usually marked as to the input and output specifications. The current is directly proportional to voltage. If you had a transformer that was a step up from primary to secondary, it would be step down from secondary to primary.
