Well personally, I think a piercing is just a piercing and it should not be judged. I don't see why a piercing should have the ability to say ANYTHING about a personal being. One likes, what one likes. And it doesn't necessarily mean anything.
But of course, the rest of the world and I don't share the same brain, and according to the rest of society certain piercings mean certain things.

While teens and young adults enjoy body piercings other adults do not care for them. When a young adult comes in for a job interview with body piercings he or she is considered either rebellious or a punk lifestyle person. Employers don't like to hire them if they have a rebellious attitude and consider the person as defiling their body with silly body jewelery all over. Another thing adults don't like is when the tongue is pierced. It is an unwise thing to pierce your tongue because you can get very serious medical complications from having the metal in your mouth and having your tongue pierced. (I know, I work in the medical world.) Employers don't like their employees to speak to their customers and vendors with the tongue piercing or spending all day playing with the tongue piercing.
The employers consider all that piercing as being UNPROFESSIONAL. Think about it. If the United States Armed Forces do not allow body piercing because they can be dangerous and they are unprofessional. Doesn't that give you an idea they are not the best idea?
Do you really think it is so important to have a body filled with pierced jewelery? Can you imagine an 80 year old walking around with body piercing? When you are in your thirties raising kids all that jewelery will come off and you would have a body full of holes and scars. (that happened to my step-daughter)
It is just as bad when someone fills their body with tattoos. It's not professional and it looks awful when the tattoos started fading and stretching when the body is older.
When I was a teen it was the guys long hair and unshaven faces and stinking like marijuana that was the problem. As I look back at photos of people like that I can see why the adults hated that look and the smell. They were not cool looking back then like they thought they were and kids and young adults of today are not cool looking now with their body piercings.
