It depends on the Sonic game/show. In the original 16-Bit games they're about half his height. In the anime Sonic X, and in the original cartoon they fit into the palm of his hand. In 3-D titles such as Sonic Adventure and Sonic and the Secret Rings, they're about his height.
In "Sonic 3 and Knuckles," the big rings are called "Giant Rings." These rings serve as portals to special stages where players can collect Chaos Emeralds or Super Emeralds, allowing Sonic and Knuckles to achieve their super forms. The Giant Rings are typically hidden throughout the levels and require exploration to find.

Dark Spines Sonic, is what Sonic transforms into when he has collected all World Rings in Sonic and the Secret of the Rings.
Nope, the only way you can turn into Super Sonic in Sonic Colors for the Wii is by collecting ALL of the Big Red Rings. It's a hard thing to accomplish, but I'm sure you'll be able to pull it off.

There are no such things. There are Sol Emeralds, in Blaze's universe and the Chaos Rings in Sonic's universe. There are also World Rings in Sonic and the Secret Rings. If they did exist, they would probably be rings infused with Sol Emerald energy.

Hyper Sonic is a form similar to Super Sonic in that it makes Sonic faster, invincible, requires fifty rings and makes Sonic glow. You must collect the rings to acheive hyper sonic.
