When building a custom box to hold you subwoofer, size and air space recommended is different from subwoofer to subwoofer. Reference an owners manual online or at home to determine the best size to build your box.
no, i really dont think there is a real need to do that anyway.
you now need an amp that will power them both and a wireing kit and a box or 2 to put them in and a place to put them.
First you need to build or buy a box that fits the style of your trunk, then install your subwoofers into the box. Before you put the box in your trunk install your amp and wires. Feed your subwoofer wires through the side of the back seat, there should be a hole in the firewall that leads into the trunk, you will need someone to pull the wires through the fire wall into the trunk while your feeding the wires through the wall. Then connect your speaker wires to the inputs of your subwoofers then set your box in the trunk and slide it back as far as you can(all the way back if possible) and that should do it!!!
In most applications you do need some form of box some companies make free air subwoofers that you might want to look up
You should really get a custom made box for it. Actually ever subwoofer should be housed in a custom made box. This way you can tune the frequency. The lower the frequency the lower the bass. Ask any Car audio shop near you, they will build one for you for cheap!
Subwoofers are put in boxes, firstly because you need a place to mount the speaker. Secondly, the box helps to create a different sound. Depending on the size and dimensions of the box, you will have a different effect and a different sound will be created.
