The wife and I havent lost quite the 5 kilos you're asking about but we've dropped quite a lot of weight in a short period, probably about 8 lbs in a couple of weeks by avoiding all starches and sugars (carbohydrates),(Ex: Breads, Pasta, & any sugar based drink like soda pop. Also we stopped eating after 6:00 at night. Your body uses carbohydrates as fuel to provide quick energy, and when your body doesn't use them all up, it converts the excess to triglycerides and then changes them to fat. This is a natural process that started when man lived in caves and didn't know when he was going to eat his next meal. The accumulated body fat was the body's way of storing energy to protect itself against periods of no food. When you eat later at night (especially carbs)and then go to sleep, you become relatively inactive and your body has to do something with those carbs, so it stores them to become fats later on down the road. Also try eating one full plate at each meal that you eat-don't skimp, BUT... GET IMMEDIATELY AWAY FROM THE TABLE SO YOU DON'T TAKE SECOND OR THIRD HELPINGS. Maybe this sounds silly but think about it... When you go to a restaurant you don't leave hungry, and yet you don't generally get second helpings, unless of course you go to a buffet style place. I hope our experience with this helps-it involves a fairly simple lifestyle change, but it seems to work for us, and once we got used to those changes and it became a routine part of our day, we found that it tended to keep our excess weight off long term.

You could be asking how to lose 5 kg in 2 weeks, or you could be asking why have you lost 5 kg in 2 wks.

If you are asking how to lose 5 kg in 2 weeks, the answer is that this is highly inadvisable. The optimal weight loss speed is 1 kg per week. Losing faster than this may be unhealthful.

The way to lose weight is to eat less calories. One kg equals about 7700 calories. So to lose one kg in a week, you need to eat 7700/7 = 1100 calories less per day than you're currently eating.

To lose 5 kg in 2 weeks, you would have to eat 7700 x 5 = 38,500 calories less than you're currently eating in a 2-week period, which is 38,500/14 = 2750 calories less per day than you're currently eating. Let's say you're currently eating 3000 calories per day. In this case, you'd have to reduce your daily intake from 3000 calories to 250 calories! This would not be a healthful lifestyle change, because it's too drastic.

If you are asking because you have lost 5 kg in 2 weeks, then the answer is that you need to see your doctor. There are many reasons for unexpected weight loss. Some of them are serious.

You can lose five kilos in a fortnight through sensible eating, regular exercise and drinking plenty of water. Try to eat 3 sensible meals each day and don't eat after 6 pm. Incorporate more fruit and vegetables in your diet, cut out white carbohydrates such as pasta, rice and potatoes.

You don't. That's an unhealthy rate of weight loss. You should do it gradually, allowing a week for every 1-2 pounds you want to lose.

Here's a program for the period in which you want to lose weight:

Plenty of moderate aerobic exercise, no sweetened liquids at all, and no junk food at all. Preferably no sugar, and as little added salt and processed foods as possible. Eat 3 not-large-portioned meals/day; do not skip breakfast; and avoid sweet snacks. Limit your calories (better to consult a doctor or nutritionist concerning the amount), and weigh yourself 2-3 times/week. Ignore the sensation of hunger. If you see your weight diminishing at a safe, reasonable rate (1-2 pounds/week), keep it up.

Once you've reached your target weight, increase your calorie intake somewhat. And you can then have small amounts of sweetened foods or junk food on occasion (if at all), along with your regular foods (not instead of them). But keep checking your weight 2-3 times/week.

Avoid crash diets, diet pills etc. Avoid fatty cuts of meat. Walk as much as possible. Bicycling and swimming are good too.

More guidelines:

Don't concentrate on specific foods so much as on a balanced, healthy diet plus exercise. Plenty of moderate exercise rather than intense exercise, which can damage your joints.

Good nutrition means eating what your body needs, while ingesting as few harmful things as possible. It has also been described as getting enough of each of the major food categories (grains, fruits, vegetables, protein, dairy, etc.; plus plenty of water).

This will vary somewhat from one person to another; and I don't believe that there's any universal diet that can be prescribed for everyone. Avoid best-sellers with their perennial fad diets. And think twice before using any dietary supplements or weight-loss pills.

In general, one's starting point can be a menu of whole grains, whole-wheat bread, a good amount of vegetables, some fruits and nuts, fish, lean meats (in not-large amounts), and some dairy. However, this must be tweaked according to one's health, weight and other factors at the outset; and also adjusted over time, as one sees what works for him/her in particular.

Also...whenever you feel queasy, nauseous, constipated or otherwise not completely well, try to remember what you've eaten over the last several hours or the last day. This is one method of adjusting one's food habits.
