He sees a snuffbox in his pocket, a tattoo of a fish on his wrist which could only be done in China and an "arc-and-compass" (an error for "square and compass") breastpin indicating his Masonic membership.
"Beyond the obvious facts that he has at some time done manual labour, that he takes snuff, that he is a Freemason, that he has been in China, and that he has done a considerable amount of writing lately, I can deduce nothing else." -- Sherlock Holmes to Dr Watson, The Red-Headed League
Sherlock Holmes knew that Jabez Wilson went to China because of the delicate pink fishes' scales in a tattoo on Wilson's right arm and a Chinese coin on his watch-chain, but the reader is not told why Wilson went to China. Perhaps it was pawnbroker's business.
i dont known
Holmes concludes that Mr Wilson was a manual labourer because his right hand was 'quite a size larger' than his left, that had been engaged in writing as it was evident by his shiny right shirt-cuff and elbow patch on the left, he deduced that he had spent some time in China as Mr. Wilson had a fish tattoo with pink scales distinct to the methods of China and a Chinese coin on his watch-chain.

No, not at all, because china is a communist country. They are also one of the super powers. He also above the law because he is a Freemason and part of the Illuminati.

There are two potential answers to this query, found in the short story The Adventure of the Illustrious Client 1) Holmes instructs Dr Watson to undertake an intense study of Chinese pottery and to assume an alias, Dr. Hill Barton who intends to sell a Ming saucer. 2) Watson is to distract the villain, Baron Adelbert Gruner, an authority on porcelains who has the collection mania in its most accute form, while Holmes enters the Baron's quarters.
The "death and resurrection" is made believable by saying it never happened. It is the rest of the story where there arise many difficulties. The fight with Professor James Moriarty is believable for Holmes regularly mentions his prowess in fighting. This part of the explanation to Watson in 'The Adventure of the Empty House' is very suspect: "I travelled for two years in Tibet (China), therefore, and amused myself by visiting Lhassa (China) and spending some days with the head Llama. . . . I then passed through Persia (Iran), looked in at Mecca (Saudi Arabia), and paid a short but interesting visit to the Khalifa at Khartoum (Sudan), the results of which I have communicated to the Foreign Office." China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Sudan were as hostile to westerners as they are today. Notice I have not even mentioned the ways Holmes would have had to take to get to these locations. Then we come to the fact "that Mycroft had preserved my rooms and my papers exactly as they had always been." Why did this not raise questions from Watson or Mrs. Hudson?
