First off, did you buy your Beats by Dr. Dre headphones from an authorized dealer (for a full list of authorized dealers, visit the link below in "Sources and related links")? If not, then they might not be authentic Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, hence, the cable not being red. If you did buy them from an authorized dealer, note that not all Beats by Dr. Dre headphones come with red cables, they come in a wide variey of colors.
You can try a mixture of white vinegar and water to get white water marks off of linoleum. Use a scrub brush with the mixture to clean the area. If that does not work, clean the marks with toothpaste.

This is my personal opinion: I have Beats by Dr. Dre Mixr headphones, I also live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada where temperatures reach -40 degrees and I wear them going back and forth to school pretty much every day and have not experienced any problem. They actually generate heat and keep my ears warm. If you have Beats by Dr. Dre Solo headphones or Beats by Dr. Dre Studio headphones I'd be careful because they are mostly plastic and cold and plastic don't mix. I have also walked with them on in the rain a few times with no problem, just make sure to wipe them off after so they don't rust. And of course, stay alert when you have your headphones on, especially when crossing the street.
You may also need to be specific on colour. This could be Beats (by dre) or what that appeared to rip off, the logo for Bebo. These two spring to mind for me
