How can I easily reach the fuel filter on a 1998 Ford Escort SE?

Not really easy. Must remove the battery. Reach behind the engine to the firewall to reach the filter. Helps if you have small hands. Changed mine last week and after a lot of working my way through the lines and wires was able to reach and change it out.
