When you surf at the thin strip off the coast of Cinnabar, that strip doesn't have its own data for what Pokemon are supposed to be in it (for some reason). So it loads the Pokemon List from the place where your name is stored, and depending on your name, different Pokemon will appear, although one of them will always be Missingno.

missing number or missingno for short is a glitch Pokemon found in Pokemon r/b/y. if you encounter it you will have 128 of your 6th item. similar Pokemon such as three circles with a ? in the middle(?????) have been refered to as missingno.Also it is more than likely to be a Kangaskhan pre-evolved form that was taken out of the game because it evolves into a Kangaskhan at a certain level.

Missingno (also known as M) is a glitch Pokemon that can be found in Pokemon Red, and Blue (not yellow). It is mainly useful for multiplying the item in the 6th spot of your bag by over 100. Like all glitches, it is capable of corrupting your file (this is not likely unless you catch missingno or or use the glitch often). one weird thing a bout this glitch is that, since it is a glitch, it is capable of breaking out of a master ball.

I think Missingno can glitch your game so I wouldn't recommend it. But if you insist, there is a way. Go to your Action Replay and Manually type in this Code. Instant Egg in Daycare (X) 921ED3D0 00000E00 121ED3D2 000028FF 121ED3EE 00004284

What this does is make an egg instantly appear in your daycare. You have to click the X button ( your menu of things like Pokemon, Save, and Options should come up) then click x again. Now go to the Daycare man and receive the egg. (make sure no Pokemon were in the daycare when you did this) Now you must hatch the egg. If you want do this this quickly there is a another code.
