As you should know, life can be found pretty much anywhere. Even in extreme conditions. But, the actual life form can be very diverse. Water Lilies, for example, are found in ponds and lakes. What if you were to transfer this plant to a desert such as the Sahara? It almost surely die. The reason for that is that it didn't evolve for that kind of climate. It needs a sufficient amount of water in order to live. The Cactus, however, is designed to store a lot of water. It can survive the harsh desert climate. So why is cactus found in the desert? It is just another example of life evolving to its surroundings.

Thank you.

Cactus have special adaptations that enable them to survive for long periods without rainfall. They can absorb a lot more water and do it a whole lost faster than most other plants when the infrequent rains come. Then they can store it a whole lot longer than most other plants. As a result, they have adapted to living under conditions where other plants can not survive.

Cacti survive in the desert by storing what little water there is inside their hollow body. This hidden water supply can be used by someone finding themselves in a survival situation.
