The best way would be to allways keep your area clean. Crumbs and grease splatters are the leading causes of slipps and falls in the kitchen. Always wearing gloves and hair nets prevent contamination of the food too.

There are many ways in which food handlers can keep food safe. Some of these methods include:

  1. Having good personal Hygine: bathing everyday, washing hands frequently before, during and after food preparation, using the bathroom and other things as well.
  2. Avoid contamination of food by keeping chemicals away from food, washing hands frequently and preventing contact between raw food and ready to eat foods
  3. Store foods properly. Keep canned food at least 6inches off the ground to help prevent pests from getting into your food. keep raw foods in the bottom of your fridge, followed by ready to eat foods, and vegetables on the top
  4. When cooking, cooling and reheating food, make sure that it remains out of the temperature danger zone 4-60 degrees Celsius. Also make sure food is cooked, cooled and reheated to the proper temperatures.
  5. Lastly, make sure that all contact and non contact surfaces are properly cleaned and sanitized.

These are a few ways to keep food safe and to prevent food-borne illness.
