A mustang horse is a wild horse in which can be saved once rescued, there is no key to taming these wild species of horses. They will usually be very thin and underweight though they adapt well to this state, as they were raised in the wild. They will first need to be stocked up with food; these usually work best:

  • Fresh grown grass or hay.
  • Beet or plain horse mix.
  • Left-over vegetables and fruit.

They will need to be groomed thoroughly, a curry comb and a hard brush, body brush, face brush and hoofpick are required. They should be allowed to be in fields in the day and in a stable at night. Check online for more ideas on halter-breaking, but be careful if you are trying to saddlebreak a wild horse as they are not naturally ridden.
