How can a person's ambition to be an officer of a school organization or a winner in a contest become a false god?

when a person lets that idea consume them and thats all they want to do, thats all they think about, in a sense worshipping their ambition.
Overall putting anything as more important than God does that. If a person wants to win something but they still reguard God as more important and dont let the idea of winning consume their entire thoughts then u can have an ambition to win without it being a false god
