It means that the person is still logged into Facebook, but is idle (hasn't refreshed the page or made any actions on facebook) in the last 5 minutes or so.

The fact is, you really can't tell when they were last online, It's just the luck of coming on when they do! But you CAN sort-of guess by their "recent activity" if you go to their page you can see the last time they added a new friend, wrote on someone's wall, etc., this can give you a general idea of when they were last online.

You can do a syntax search which looks like this with Google: facebook:first and last name OR just search the name of the person and Facebook page (if they have one) should be in the first 30 results. You must have a Facebook profile to connect with them though.
