May not be anything special. But sitting position is not the ideal for sleep as it hampers the very purpose of sleep, that is rest.It also may cause injury, spasm of neck. The normal redistribution of blood in sleep may also be hampered in sitting position.I don't fall asleep on purpose. I fall asleep while trying not to, my neck is hurting, and my extremities are tingling.sleeping wile sitting isnt realy sleeping it is known as a power nap.
No, it is not. It causes strain on your back which hurts very bad. This isn't true, people have been sitting up to sleep, in chairs on the ground and in bed for hundreds if not thousands of years. I have a heart arrhythmia that requires that I am elevated and it does not hurt my back at all and keeps my heart beating comfortably. My sister has degenerative disc and has had back surgery and has to sleep sitting up when she has had pneumonia and this did not cause back pain at all. It actually relieved her pain because she had her legs partly elevated in bed. It may be bad for you if you have a particular injury or you are sitting in a stiff chair but for certain conditions especially of the heart and lung it is dr. recommended to sleep with several pillows propping you up as much as possible. As far as being good for a healthy person to sleep this way on a daily basis I don't know.
