How do you not be clingy?

Usually the first signs of clingyness is when you feel as though you couldn't possibly be anywhere else without your partner.

Consider making some alone time away from your partner every now and then so he/she doesn't feel smothered. Spend time with your friends and let your partner spend time with his/her friends too. By giving each other a day or two to breathe, you and your partner should be dying to see each other the next day. Make these breaks part of your weekly routine where you have 1-2 days of alone time depending on your circumsances. These alone time days should make your partner more eager to be with you.

Minimalize the interrogative questions, (this includes txts and calls) they cause your partner to feel pressured into your relationship. These questions may include: "What are you doing?" "Where are you?" and "How are you?" Instead, consider telling your partner what YOU did and how YOU are feeling (these are called indirect questions). This gives your partner a chance to reply with a similar answer and prevents him/her of lying to you just for alone time.

Clinging is a symptom of low self-esteem and general anxiety about relationships. We suggest speaking with a therapist, who can hook you up with a therapy group. This is not an issue that you can address on your own, although there are all sorts of folks who would be happy to sell you books and services. Spend the money on therapy.

Try not to spend so much time around them, or don't follow them around much.

Make another friend and see them both equaly.

I have had a clingy friend and it can be quite annoying.
