Yeah, I've been bit by a grasshopper too, but it didn't draw my blood, i was going to let him outside of the house and he just bit me.
I have a grasshopper that must love me, it hasn't bitten me but it has stayed on my arms and hands for about 2 hours now. If anyone else tries to hold it it will jump off. So I wonder what's up with my little friend and me?
So a couple of days ago my dog yelped and cried out so load I thought someone had hurt her. She has acted scared for the last two days. It has been bothering me what happened. No one was around her....she just started to yelp and run. Tonight I found a grasshopper on my Celine. I think it bit her. It is weird tho. It has a claw looking thing hanging of the back of it.
:To this answer i would have to say that probbly wasnt a grasshopper, but rather a Cydia they look like grass hoppers but are much larger and eat other insects. They have been known to hunt Spiders,
Yes they bite, and making a crackling sound when they feel endangered. If you did swell up that means you are allergic and need to go to the hospital.
Many grasshoppers are carnivorous, especially katydids (very long antennae). They will bite when threatened or picked up. They're not venomous however, as far as I know, so there should not be an allergic reaction aside from the actual wound.

∙ 14y agoIn directly. Locusts,a type of grasshopper, swarm in vast numbers in places like Africa and destroy crops creating famine killing people by hunger. I have not heard of a disease borne by grasshoppers.

∙ 9y agoGrasshoppers cannot sting but they are capable of biting. Larger specimens have sharp spines on their rear legs that can cause nasty scratches to hands or fingers if they are not properly handled.

∙ 9y agoIt is conceivable, but very unlikely, that a grasshopper could kill you. Several hundred grasshoppers could conceivably kill a person that was unconscious, by restricting their airflow.
