(Everything in my answer assumes we're talking about North American power. Disclaimer: I'm not an electrician. Following this advice might be foolish.)
Possibility 1: Get a long, heavy duty extension cord and use their kitchen stove or dryer power. This assumes that their stove/dryer is plugged vs hardwired.
Possibility 2: Make a really trick extension cord that picks up a 120v hot from one outlet and another 120v hot from a different outlet on the other leg of the panel and combines them for 240v. The hard part is finding outlets on two different circuits that happen to be on different legs. You'll need a voltage tester handy to verify what you've got before you plug your compressor into it. You should be faintly worried about blowing breakers with this one.
Possibility 3: Ask the nice Craftsman people if the compressor motor can be rewired for 120v.
Possibility 4: Stop thinking about lugging a compressor that size into anyone's house. Buy something little.
The Air Conditioner needs electricity to power all the electrical controls, operate the compressor that pushes the refrigerant through the system, and run the fans.
No, the unit has to operate on the voltage specified. The internal controls are all designed to operate on a 240 volt input. The motor in the air conditioner will not operate at the lower voltage and without this compressor motor operating the unit will not get cold.
No they can not operate in outer space.
Yes, transformers which operate on 110 - 120 Volts exist. This question is probably incomplete as it only mentions one voltage: it could be for the primary or the secondary or for a single-winding auto-transformer. The missing information cannot be guessed...
Answer Possibly. The device will not be harmed, but the fan motors and compressor will run slower making it operate below its intended levels. It will not work as wekk on 50hz as it did on 60hz, but it should work. If it has a ice maker with a motorized timer, that will not work correctly. The timer will turn at a different speed altering the timing.Another AnswerI ran my Canadian 120-V / 60-Hz fridge-freezer for years in the UK, using a 230:120-V transformer at 50 Hz.
Some tools that may require an air compressor are wrenches. Some wrenches will operate on air power for faster use.
A re manufactured compressor should fix. they are easy to install.
Businesses need customers. They need suppliers. They need employees.

I'm not sure why you would want to disable this.. There is an on and off switch in the trunk on the passenger side. In the off position the air compressor will not operate.

To operate the device and assist customers during up selling
Yes it can be done and there are a few companies that will do it for you. Diesel powered units turn a compressor, so an electric motor can also turn the compressor. Most diesel units operate at 2200 rpm and most electric motors are 1800 rpm so allowances must be made in the electronic controls for the difference in speed and of course how the start and stop cycles are controlled.
