Frankly, other than by encouraging him to get professional help, you probably can't. This takes help from a pro, and you are not a pro. Your relationship will change for the worse if you try to cover for him when he is drunk - this is called enabling and does not work in the long run. It is a journey that he needs to make and the best help is a professional.
