The media's role in influencing election is to inform the public in a biased or nonbiased way or neutral way as to what the issues or the candidates stand for.

The more informed the public, the more they are likely to vote or not vote for or against a certain issue or candidate running for office.

Allows more voters to participate; and relieves the candidates of travelling all over the country lobbying for votes. Before the media, the candidates had to physically endure TRAVELLING and PUBLIC SPEAKING without the aid of modern micro-phones or loudspeakers. Those men were exhausted during those days. Less voters were reached, but everything is relevant for the times.
