If you do not believe something is the law of god, you do not need to obey it. You may need to obey it from a civil or practical or ethical standpoint, but if you are trying not to displease god, first you need to believe that he exists.

What are the obedience to law?

In the Hebrew Scriptures, obedience means to 'hear or listen' There is no substitute for it, no gaining Gods favor without it.. God has first clain for obedience, since he is the Creator. Obedience is not carried out alone in hearing...it goes hand in hand with 'doing'. One must submit, do, carry out, all decrees, laws, commands of God. Persons not knowing the Laws of God, carry the Law of Conscience. Those are under "a law to themselves" and and they are 'accused or excused' in their own thoughts. The history of God'given laws date back to the beginning of creation. Laws that carry out God's Word thruout all creation.

What did Jesus teach about Jewish religious laws?

Jesus obeyed the laws in the scriptures. Sometimes He pointed out to the pharisees and priests that they were hypocritical in that they did not always obey God's laws and that they made up the most ridiculous rules about obeying the law. When you read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in the Bible you will see Jesus does that often. To obey God's law is to do it from the heart-not to show off to others how "perfect" you are because you obey them. Loving God is not just about adhering to a set of laws. It is about maintaining a close relationship with Him, loving Him and trusting Him and obeying His will. The number one thing He wants us for us to believe on Him, declare that Jesus is the Son of God and He will reward us with eternal life.
