How can one stop the clasp of a mock silver-toned bracelet from turning a coppery color?

It is possible that this is rust. Try replacing the clasp with something else that cannot rust, or rust as easily. My other solution is Bleach. I wouldn't suggest it, but it can turn the copper white, so it will be a little closer to the color silver.

This will help even out the weight of the bracelet and may help it to not turn as much.
